Indian Institute of Technology [IITM] is an autonomous education institution functioning under MHRD and is involved in providing Educational Research Programmes in the field of Pure & Applied Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities and also facilitates sponsored and applied research for industries and various government departments.

Purchase and Stores Section functions with the primary objective of procuring desired goods and services at right time, from right source and at right cost which are required for research & educational activities of Departments/Centres/Sections and also for the smooth functioning of IITM.

Purchase and Stores Section is located on the 3rd Floor of the Institute’s Administrative building, handles procurement process of goods/services as per GFR 2017.

All Departments/Centres/Sections of this Institute have already been instructed that procurement of common use goods and services should be mandatorily done from the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
