Guest Faculty:

1. To teach courses on special topics where IIT Madras does not have faculty with expertise in those topics.
2. To bring in ‘industrial’ aspects in teaching certain topics
3. To accommodate more number of students in certain popular topics such as ‘Economics’.
4. Suitable faculty from industry/other academic Institutions/retired faculty are engaged. Such faculty comes under Guest Faculty. A Guest Faculty is identified by the Department and approval sought by Head of the Department  with justification.
5. A suitable honorarium as approved by the Institute is paid to the guest faulty for teaching the course.
