At least 10 years industrial / research / teaching experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIScBangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution / institutions of comparable standards. The minimum starting pay to be fixed in Academic Pay Level 14A at Cell No.1 Rs.1,59,100/.

Chair Professor

The Faculty member should have completed 10 years in the rank of Professor at IITs/IISc or a similar reputed University. The candidate must have achieved prominence at national level & should have achieved some amount of International reputation from reputed institutions abroad. The overall and the recent (last 4 years) research output of the faculty member including publications; guidance etc. should be significantly above the Institute and Department average. The Candidate should have consistently good teaching record.

Professor (HAG – Academic Pay Level 15)

Up to a maximum of 40% of the posts of Professors at this Institute, at any given point of time shall be eligible to apply for HAG Academic Pay Level of 15 after six years of regular service inthe Academic Pay Level 14A as Professor subject to a performance evaluation based on research, research guidance, research publications, Ph.D supervisions, teaching, consultancy, IPR development, resource generation through sponsored research, administrative responsibilities etc.

Institute Professor

IT Madras recognizes senior faculty who have made exceptional contributions at a national and international level through the Institute Lifetime Achievement Research Award. A Professor selected for this awardis also designated as “Institute Professor”.The Institute recognizes maximum of one faculty member in this category each year.
